Cambrian’s postwar tract homes, most built in the 1950s and 60s, are some of the most sensible houses in San Jose, but their plumbing is at that awkward age: original galvanized supply pipe nearing failure and cast iron drains rusting rough on the inside, snagging everything that flows by.
A lot of Cambrian homes have been partially updated over the decades, which leaves a patchwork: copper here, galvanized there, and mystery connections in the crawlspace. The reason that patchwork matters is what happens where the materials meet.
