Saratoga runs to big lots, and a big lot changes the plumbing in ways that are not obvious until something goes wrong. The water service from the meter to the house can be a hundred feet or more. Irrigation is usually extensive and tied in somewhere. There is often more than one water heater because the far bathroom is a long way from the near one, and a recirculation loop somewhere trying to fix the wait for hot water.
Long runs mean the problems are spread out. A wet patch in a lawn thirty feet from the house is not a sprinkler nine times out of ten, it is the service line, and finding the actual spot matters more here than anywhere because the alternative is trenching the whole run. We locate the leak first and dig once.
A lot of the 1960s to 80s houses are now at the age where the original regulator has given out and nobody noticed. High pressure rarely bursts anything. What it does is shorten the life of every valve, supply line, and appliance hose in the building, so you replace them one at a time for years without ever asking why they keep failing. A gauge on a hose bib answers that question in about a minute.
We also do a fair amount of gas work out here for outdoor kitchens, pool heaters and fire features. Those lines get sized for the load they actually carry, and then pressure-tested before anything gets buried or covered.
Because the runs are long out here, a leak that shows at the surface is often nowhere near where the pipe actually failed. Resist the temptation to dig at the wet patch. Locating first and digging once is almost always cheaper than the alternative, even when it feels slower on the day.
